Fort Dufile, Uganda

"Until the lions have their own historians, the stories of hunting will always glorify the hunters. The task at hand then is to put the African perspective into African History." -Dr. Merrick Posnansky

This project involved preliminary archival research and a site visit to Dufile in December 2004. The mission is designed to provide conservation for a key archaeological site in Moyo District, Uganda that will provide a focus for cultural preservation in the area, provide a model for future work in Uganda and facilitate the first phase of a Cultural Resource Management plan. There has not been a concerted plan for developing the archaeological resources nor conservation of what is already known in this area.
